Short Guided meditations to reveal inspiration
Below are five short contemplative exercises that were part of a course for artists I led called “Trusting What Is Fascinating”. The course was offered as a container within which to play with listening to and trusting what inspires and moves us, while setting aside judgments and restrictions. These short exercises encourage one to take a contemplative stance (connected to the body, the emotional experience, the energetic sense of the being) and then a prompt or possibility is dropped into that contemplative space. The prompts are lightly specific, just enough to be suggestive and so these exercises can be done repeatedly and will elicit different explorations depending on the state of the heart and mind at a given time. While they can be used as creative prompts, my intention for offering these kinds of practices is mostly to reaffirm our connection to what inspires us whether it wants to be made manifest as creative work or not.
