Short talk on connections between Emptiness Practice & Art Making / Creative Process
(From the Fall 2023 “Opening What is Closed” course).

November Insight Sessions / 2022
Below are three sessions offered for experienced insight/emptiness practitioners . The sessions consist of short guided practice exercises and teachings that are intended to open new slants on working with the relationship of clinging, the self sense, and the sense of world and so may be interesting to any experienced insight meditator, but will be most easily contextualized by those familiar with the emptiness practice approaches of Rob Burbea (his book Seeing that Frees, etc.)

Session 1: Working with postive/negative space or background/foreground elements of attention to support letting go.
Session 2: Working with perceived spatial relationships (distance, self & object, location of awareness)
Session 3: “Taking the Backwards Step”: Cultivating skillful relationships with a sense of groundlessness & the softening of reification/fading of perception.

Three short guided explorations of sensing the body/energy body in different ways
Guided Practice – Body as Cloud
Guided Practice – Body as Light
Guided Practice – Body as Liquid

Tuning into Space or Absence within/without the Body. 20 min teaching + 30 min guided practice (from Perspectives Into the Body course 2021 co-taught with Juha Penttilä).

The following three recordings are a series of teachings, exercises, and guided practices around “Vastness of Awareness” practice as taught by Rob Burbea. The instructions focus on the insight aspects of this style of practice, and the guided meditations and exercises play with different facets of this range of practices. Part of a collaboration with Yahel Avigur, 2022.
